Filmen Pas de Deux for ocean and factory ble laget som et kunstverk til temaet VANN for kunstfestivalen Greenlight District i Skien, Porsgrunn 2019. Jeg ønsket å uttrykke samspillet og konflikten mellom havets krefter i møte med en ekspanderende industriell verden. I Porsgrunn ligger industriområdet Herøya. Ved hjelp av Google Earth gjorde jeg et skjermopptak av områdets industriarkitektur. Disse opptakene ble grunnlaget for en tredelt film der den ekspanderende industrien resulterer i et naturkollaps der både døgnet og naturens rytmer bryter sammen.
Pierre Lionel Matte bor og arbeider i Oslo, og har fransk-norsk-belgisk bakgrunn. Han har sin kunstutdannelse fra Kunstakademiet i Trondheim, med videre-kunststudier i Polen og Chile. Matte arbeider idé-basert i de fleste medier, som video, fotografi, tekst, tegning, maleri, skulptur, animasjon og lyd.

The film Pas de Deux for Ocean and Factory was created as an artwork for the theme of WATER at the Greenlight District art festival in Skien and Porsgrunn in 2019. My intention was to convey the interplay and conflict between the forces of the ocean and the expanding industrial world. Porsgrunn is home to the industrial area of Herøya. Using Google Earth, I recorded the area’s industrial architecture, which became the foundation for a three-part film. In the film, the expanding industry leads to a natural collapse, where both the day and nature’s rhythms unravel.
Pierre Lionel Matte lives and works in Oslo and has French-Norwegian-Belgian heritage. He received his art education at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, combined with art studies in Poland and Chile. Matte works conceptually across various media, including video, photography, text, drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, and sound.
