Forsterket kontorstøtte er et maleri i en serie med flere motiver jeg jobber med. Motivene er hentet fra et kommunalt trykkeri hvor jeg arbeidet i 13 år, frem til avviklingen i 2017 som følge av digitaliseringen. Gjennom akrylmaling på lerret søker jeg å dokumentere og hylle en arbeidsplass og fagfelt som har forsvunnet i takt med samfunnets teknologiske utvikling.

Bildene fungerer som en refleksjon over tiden vi lever i, der overgangen til det heldigitale skaper en økende distanse til det fysiske og taktile. I en samtid preget av kunstig intelligens og algoritmer, mener jeg det håndfaste og menneskeskapte får en ny og unik verdi. Ved å male detaljer fra trykkeriet med høy presisjon, ønsker jeg å feire det langsomme håndverket og den menneskelige tilstedeværelsen som ligger i det mekaniske.

BIO

John Arne Tømmervold (f. 1979, Orkanger) bor i Klæbu. Han har treårig formgivningsfag og toårig fagskoleutdanning innen grafisk design. Til daglig er han mediedesigner og innholdsprodusent i Trondheim kommune. Som kunstmaler arbeider han både med olje og akryl der han kombinerer sin visuelle erfaring.

Reinforced Office Support is a painting from an ongoing series of motifs I am currently working on. The imagery is drawn from a municipal printing house where I worked for 13 years, until its closure in 2017 as a result of digitization. Through acrylic on canvas, I seek to document and pay tribute to a workplace and a professional field that have vanished in tandem with society's technological evolution.

The paintings serve as a reflection on the era we live in, where the transition to an all-digital world creates an increasing distance from the physical and tactile. In a contemporary landscape dominated by artificial intelligence and algorithms, I believe the tangible and human-made take on a new and unique value. By painting details from the printing house with high precision, I want to celebrate the slow craftsmanship and the human presence embedded within the mechanical.

BIO

John Arne Tømmervold (b. 1979, Orkanger) lives in Klæbu. He has a three-year education in design and a two-year vocational qualification in graphic design. He currently works as a media designer and content producer for Trondheim Municipality. As a painter, he works with both oil and acrylic, combining his visual experience in his artistic practice.
