ISFLAK (2025), tre og linolje.

ISFLAK fra serien “Bever Hotell” er en skulptur i tre behandlet med linolje, inspirert av is, skog og nordisk økologi. Jeg har samlet nedfalne stokker og båret dem til atelieret, hvor de er skåret til i form og mønster. Skulpturen er en hyllest til beveren, hvis ferdigheter i å felle trær kan minne om våre egne.

Jeg arbeider med rå, lokale materialer og stedspesifikke kontekster for å skape dialog mellom kropp, materiale og landskap. Gjennom disse prosessene presenterer verkene mine fiktive scenarier og myter som veksler mellom virkelighet og det imaginære. Naturens egne materialer blandes med håndverksprosesser i tre, metall og keramikk. ISFLAK har tidligere vært vist på Liljevalchs Vårsalong 2026 og Harpefoss Kunstarena i 2024.

BIO

Beatrice Alvestad Lopez (f. 1986) er billedkunstner basert i Oslo og Stockholm. Hun har MFA i kunsthåndverk fra Konstfack i Stockholm og BA i tekstil fra Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti i Milano. Hun arbeider tverrfaglig med skulptur, video, performance og installasjon, ofte med fiktive narrativer, organiske materialer og håndverksteknikker.

ISFLAK is a sculpture from the Beaver Hotel series, made of wood and treated with linseed oil, inspired by ice, forests, and Nordic ecology. I collected fallen logs and carried them back to my studio, where they were carved into shape and pattern. The sculpture is a tribute to the beaver, whose ability to fell trees mirrors our own.

I work with raw, locally sourced materials and site-specific contexts to create a dialogue between body, material, and landscape. Through these processes, my works present fictional scenarios and myths that move between reality and the imaginary. Natural materials are combined with craft-based processes in wood, metal, and ceramics. ISFLAK has previously been exhibited at Liljevalchs Spring Salon 2026 and Harpefoss Kunstarena in 2024.

Beatrice Alvestad Lopez (b. 1986) is a visual artist based in Oslo and Stockholm. She holds an MFA in Craft from Konstfack in Stockholm and a BA in Textiles from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. Her interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, video, performance, and installation, often drawing on fictional narratives, organic materials, and craft techniques.
