I 2023 satt jeg med et spedbarn i hendene og så krigen bryte ut i Midtøsten. Denne kulltegningen er en del av et pågående prosjekt der jeg undersøker barns tilstedeværelse gjennom arkeologiske funn.

På mange måter kan tegningen minne om en kvinnelig utgave av birkebeinernes ferd over fjellet med Håkon Håkonsson i 1206. Både i tegningen og sagnet skal barnet beskyttes. I tegningen ser vi fire kvinnelige ryttere: fremst er kvinner fra Tang-dynastiet, i midten en amasone, og bak henne sitter en kvinne fra Mesopotamia og holder sitt barn. Den flekkete hesten hun sitter på er tegnet av tantebarnet mitt, Ella Haraldsen Wennberg, 6 år.

BIO

Ingri Haraldsen (f. 1984, Sandnessjøen) bor og arbeider i Trondheim. Hun har en BA i kunst og design fra Høgskolen i Oslo og Universidad del País Vasco i Bilbao. Haraldsen arbeider hovedsakelig med tegning.

In 2023, I was holding an infant in my arms while witnessing the outbreak of war in the Middle East. This charcoal drawing is part of an ongoing project in which I explore the presence of children through archaeological discoveries.

In many ways, the drawing can be seen as a female counterpart to the Birkebeiner journey across the mountains with Håkon Håkonsson in 1206. In both the drawing and the legend, the child must be protected. The drawing depicts four female riders: in the front are women from the Tang dynasty, in the middle an Amazon, and behind her a woman from Mesopotamia holding her child. The spotted horse she is riding was drawn by my niece, Ella Haraldsen Wennberg, aged six.

Ingri Haraldsen (b. 1984, Sandnessjøen) lives and works in Trondheim. She holds a BA in Art and Design from Oslo University College and the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. Haraldsen primarily works with drawing.
