Brain Fog er et oljemaleri basert på et rasterfoto som har fått lesbarheten redusert gjennom gjentatte oversettelser mellom digitale og analoge formater. Det opprinnelige motivet viser en person som tar bilde av sin egen refleksjon i et vindu, men gjennom prosessen brytes motivet gradvis ned til fragmenter, flater og forskyvninger.
Jeg er interessert i hvordan bilder endrer karakter når de sirkulerer mellom ulike teknologier, medier og materialer, og hvordan informasjon både kan forsterkes og gå tapt underveis. I arbeidet med maleriet har jeg forsøkt å bevare en tvetydighet der bildet beveger seg mellom gjenkjennelse og oppløsning. Verket handler om persepsjon, digital bildekultur og den mentale tåken som kan oppstå i møte med en stadig mer filtrert og teknologisk virkelighet.
BIO
Petter Buhagen (f. 1983, Trondheim) bor og arbeider i Trondheim. Han er utdannet ved Kunstakademiet i Oslo og Arts Institute i Bournemouth. Buhagen arbeider med tegning, grafikk, maleri, skulptur, fotografi, video og installasjon. Han er også kunstnerisk leder for visningsrommet BABEL i Trondheim.

Brain Fog is an oil painting based on a raster image whose legibility has been reduced through repeated translations between digital and analogue formats. The original image depicts a person photographing their own reflection in a window, but through the process the motif gradually dissolves into fragments, surfaces, and displacements.
I am interested in how images change character as they circulate between different technologies, media, and materials, and how information can both be amplified and lost along the way. In working with the painting, I have sought to preserve an ambiguity in which the image moves between recognition and dissolution. The work explores perception, digital image culture, and the mental fog that can emerge when encountering an increasingly filtered and technologically mediated reality.

Petter Buhagen (b. 1983, Trondheim) lives and works in Trondheim. He was educated at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and the Arts University Bournemouth . Buhagen works across drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation. He is also the artistic director of the exhibition space BABEL in Trondheim.
